Schneider Electric VW3A7101 Altivar 200 kW 400 V Resistance Braking Unit VFD Accessory

The Schneider Electric VW3A7101 is a resistance braking unit for Altivar 61, Altivar 71 and Altivar Process ATV900 variable speed drives, rated for 200 kW permanent braking power at 400 V with a 420 kW maximum and a minimum resistor value of 1.05 Ohm. It adds integrated thermal-probe protection and activates at 785 V DC on the drive's DC bus.

The VW3A7101 is sized for 200 kW permanent braking power at 400 V, with a 420 kW maximum rating for short duty cycles (0.05 load factor) and a 1.05 Ohm minimum resistor value that must not be undercut when pairing with the drive's internal chopper. Integrated thermal-probe protection lets the unit report an over-temperature fault back to the drive rather than relying on external thermal monitoring. It fits Altivar 61, Altivar 71 and Altivar Process ATV900 drives in the 250-315 kW class; drives outside that braking-power range need a smaller or larger unit in the same accessory range.
