The Schneider Electric TM221ME16T is a Modicon M221 Book-format logic controller with 16 discrete I/O — 8 inputs (4 fast) and 8 PNP transistor outputs (2 fast) — plus a built-in Ethernet RJ45 port for Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP. Supplied from 24 V DC in a 70 x 70 x 90 mm housing, it switches up to 0.5 A per output.

The TM221ME16T adds Ethernet (Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP) to the 16-point transistor Book controller, making it the choice over the serial-only transistor variant when the machine needs network-level diagnostics or SCADA integration. Its two 100 kHz fast outputs still support PTO/PWM/PLS for simple positioning, unaffected by the added network interface. The DHCP client lets it pick up an IP address automatically on commissioning, which simplifies swapping a controller in the field without a static-address reconfiguration step.
