The Schneider Electric TM221ME16R is a Modicon M221 Book-format logic controller with 16 discrete I/O — 8 inputs and 8 relay outputs — plus a built-in Ethernet RJ45 port for Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP. Supplied from 24 V DC, its normally-open relay outputs switch 5-125 V DC or 5-250 V AC at up to 2 A per point in a 70 x 70 x 90 mm housing.

The TM221ME16R combines the 16-point relay Book controller with native Ethernet, so pick it over the serial-only relay variant when SCADA or line-level Modbus TCP polling is needed alongside line-voltage relay switching (5-250 V AC or 5-125 V DC, up to 2 A). Its EtherNet/IP adapter role also lets an upstream PLC-class controller monitor the machine without protocol-conversion hardware.
