The negative (source) logic on the NTSDDI1642K is the complement of the sink-logic NTSDDI1602K, matching field sensors wired as PNP-common rather than NPN-common; the two modules share the same 16-channel, 1-wire, 24 V DC electrical envelope and should be chosen based purely on the plant's existing sensor polarity convention. Mixing sink and source modules on the same NTS cluster avoids rewiring sensors when a panel standardizes on one logic type for new input points while retaining the other for legacy wiring. Verify sensor polarity before ordering, since swapping sink for source logic after installation means replacing the module rather than reconfiguring it.
