The Schneider Electric G40F4A400 is a 4-pole GoPact MCCB400F moulded case circuit breaker rated 400 A (In) at 415 V AC (Ue), with 36 kA breaking capacity (Icu) at 380/415 V AC. It carries a thermal-magnetic TM-D trip unit (functions LI) with Ir thermal pick-up adjustable from 280 to 400 A and an 12 x In fixed magnetic short-circuit trip, and mounts fixed with front screw-terminal connections for distribution circuits in panels and switchboards.

Selection Notes

The TM-D trip unit's Ir thermal pick-up is adjustable from 280 to 400 A (0.7-1 x In), so this 400 A frame can be tuned down to match the actual conductor or load current instead of relying on the next frame size down. The magnetic short-circuit trip is fixed at 12 x In (4800 A) rather than independently adjustable, so coordination with downstream devices depends on time-current curve separation rather than an Isd setting. At 36 kA Icu at 380/415 V AC, the F performance level covers general distribution duty on this 400 A frame; where a higher prospective fault current is expected, the equivalent N or H breaking-capacity variant in the same frame is the better fit.
