The Schneider Electric BMXCRA31200 is a Modicon X80 Ethernet remote I/O (RIO) drop adapter that links a standard-format I/O rack to a Modicon M580 or Quantum RIO network over 2 EtherNet/IP ports. It supports up to 128 discrete and 16 analog channels per drop, runs a ring topology with RSTP, and reports diagnostics for every remote I/O device on the drop.

The BMXCRA31200 extends a Modicon X80 rack over EtherNet/IP as a standard-format remote I/O drop, collecting up to 128 discrete and 16 analog channels and publishing them to the remote I/O head adapter on a Modicon M580 or Quantum controller. Its ring topology with RSTP keeps the drop on the network if one Ethernet segment fails, and Configuration Change On The Fly (CCOTF) lets I/O modules in the drop be added or swapped without stopping the process. Choose this adapter, not a point-to-point Modbus TCP link, whenever the RIO network itself must run in a redundant ring.
