Use the ATVRD15N4 in place of a braking resistor when the application returns energy to the line repeatedly rather than dissipating it as heat: hoists, centrifuges and other loads with frequent regenerative braking cycles benefit most, since the unit feeds recovered energy back to the 380-500 V AC supply instead of a resistor bank. It is sized for compatibility with ATV320, ATV340 and ATV900 drives; match its DC bus voltage range of 456-778 V to the connected drive's bus before installing it, and provide clear airflow around its fan-cooled enclosure, since it relies on forced ventilation rather than natural convection to stay within its rated ambient range.
