Pick Normal Duty for centrifugal loads such as fans, pumps and compressors, where torque demand stays flat and the higher continuous rating covers the motor's full nameplate power. Pick Heavy Duty for conveyors and other constant-torque or shock-loaded applications, where the lower continuous current trades headroom for the larger short-time overload margin.
