The ATV310HD15N4EF carries two nameplate ratings on the same frame: 15 kW heavy duty with a 49.5 A 60 s transient current for constant-torque loads that need overload margin at start, and 18.5 kW normal duty with a lower 39.6 A transient margin for variable-torque loads that rarely overload. Pick the heavy duty rating when the driven machine needs the 170-200% transient overtorque headroom; pick the normal duty rating to run the larger 18.5 kW motor on the same drive frame when the load itself has less starting demand. The integrated Class C3 EMC filter on this variant meets conducted-emission limits without an external filter, at the cost of 6.7 kg versus the lighter non-filtered build. The 22 kA heavy duty short-circuit withstand sets the upstream protective device coordination.
