This reader pairs the RF260R's larger 75 x 75 x 41 mm integrated-antenna body with an RS232 ASCII/scan-mode interface, so it outputs tag data as plain text to a PC or scanner input rather than through a SIMATIC communication module. The 30 m maximum cable run is far shorter than the RS422 version's 1000 m, so it needs to sit near the connected PC. Choose this ASCII variant over the RS422 version when the endpoint is a PC or terminal, and choose the smaller cuboid ASCII variant instead when the longer read range of the 75 mm body is not needed.
