How to choose

• Motor power and current in AC-3 at your supply voltage. Do not size from the AC-1 value.
• Pole count: 3P for motors, 4P where the neutral is switched.
• Coil voltage and type, AC or DC, against the control supply.
• Short-circuit protection and overload relay matched to the contactor, following the manufacturer's coordination tables.
• Auxiliary contact needs and whether add-on blocks fit the frame.

What does AC-3 mean on a contactor?

AC-3 is the IEC 60947-4-1 category for starting and stopping squirrel-cage motors. Ratings in AC-3 are usually lower than AC-1 for the same frame.

Can I replace a contactor with another brand?

Check rated current in AC-3, pole count, coil voltage and mounting dimensions. Auxiliary contacts and coordination with the overload relay must also match.
