Selection Notes

The 100 kHz switching speed on both inputs and outputs handles quadrature encoder feedback and PTO pulse trains that a standard low-speed signal board cannot; pick a conventional-speed SB instead when the application only switches proximity sensors and relays and doesn't need high-speed counting. Because S7-1211C/1212C CPUs have a single signal-board slot, this combined 4DI/4DO board covers a mixed input-and-output need in one slot rather than requiring a DI-only and DQ-only board.

Applications

Adding compact high-speed digital I/O to a small SIMATIC S7-1200 CPU without expanding the rack: quadrature encoder or limit-switch inputs, PTO pulse outputs for simple positioning, and general 24 V DC switching where board space is limited.
