The ST (Standard) designation means this interface module covers standard-speed PROFIBUS DP connectivity for up to 12 S7-1500 modules without the extended IRT diagnostics of a PROFINET HF variant - choose it when the station only needs cyclic DP data exchange and DPV1 acyclic parameterization on a PROFIBUS, not PROFINET, network. PROFIsafe support lets F-modules run in the same rack for fail-safe I/O over the same DP segment. The RS 485 port tops out at 12 Mbit/s, so segment length and repeater count on the DP trunk should be checked against that rate before scaling toward the 12-module limit.
