The Siemens 6GK7542-6UX00-0XE0 is a SIMATIC NET CP 1542SP-1 communication processor that connects a SIMATIC ET 200SP station to Industrial Ethernet over an integrated 2-port switch at 10 to 100 Mbit/s. It handles open IE communication over TCP/IP, ISO-on-TCP, and UDP, PG/OP traffic, S7 routing, and NTP time synchronization, and requires a separate bus adapter.

Up to 2 CP 1542SP-1 modules can be plugged per ET 200SP CPU for redundant or segmented network connections, and simultaneous operation alongside a CM DP module is supported if PROFIBUS is also needed on the same station. The 32 open (T-block) connections plus 16 S7 connections give enough headroom for a station also running SNMP, DCP, and LLDP management traffic without exhausting connection resources. Because the bus adapter, RJ45, FC, or SCRJ, is ordered separately, confirm the physical media choice before ordering - the CP itself is media-agnostic at the module level.
