The Siemens SCALANCE XR522-12 (6GK5534-3TR00-4AR3) is a 19-inch rack, Layer 3 managed Ethernet switch with 20x 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports, 2x combo 1G/2.5G/5G/10G RJ45 ports, 4x SFP ports, and 8x SFP+ ports for 10 Gbit/s uplinks. Two independent 100-240V AC/DC-rated supplies on IEC C14 inlets give power redundancy alongside the integrated redundancy manager.

Selection Notes

The 4AR3 variant adds a second, independent AC/DC-rated supply input for power redundancy - the option to pick when a single feed failure must not take the backbone switch down. Pick the 3AR3 sibling instead if a single mains feed is acceptable, or 2AR3 for a 24V DC-only bus. Against the larger XR526-8, the XR522-12 trades 4 RJ45 ports for 4 extra SFP slots, which suits sites standardizing on fiber for part of the access layer.

Applications

The redundant supply inputs suit critical distribution cabinets where the switch itself must not become a single point of failure, while the mixed RJ45/SFP/SFP+ port set combines copper drops with fiber runs across a PROFINET plant backbone.
