The Siemens SCALANCE XR328-4C WG (6GK5328-4FS00-2AR3) is a managed Layer 2 industrial Ethernet switch for 19-inch cabinet mounting, combining 24 electrical 10/100 Mbit/s RJ45 ports with 4 combo ports that run at 1000 Mbit/s electrical or optical. The 2AR3 variant adds cULus, ATEX/UKEX/IECEx and CCC hazardous-location approval on top of the base 24 V DC electrical design, which matters when the switch sits in a classified Zone 2/22 or Division 2 cabinet; for a standard control-room installation, the electrically identical DC variant without hazardous-location certification covers the same 24-port Fast Ethernet plus 4-port Gigabit combo layout at lower cost. Choose this switch over the 240 V AC-powered siblings when the panel already distributes 24 V DC control power, since it skips a separate power conversion step and its 12 W power loss is far lower than the AC-fed models draw. If the application needs switched Gigabit on all downstream ports rather than Fast Ethernet, the all-Gigabit sibling in the same enclosure is the better fit.
