As an unmanaged switch, the XB005 has no PROFINET conformance beyond Class A cabling compatibility - no VLAN, port mirroring, or ring redundancy configuration - so it fits flat, low-node-count segments such as a single machine's local star topology rather than plant-wide managed rings. It does support Parallel Redundancy Protocol at the physical layer, letting it sit on both legs of a PRP network without itself needing PRP intelligence. The dual-rated 24 V AC/DC input and wide 19.2-28.8 V tolerance let it run from the same supply rail as connected PLC or HMI hardware without a dedicated switch power supply, and the ATEX/UKEX/IECEx approvals cover mounting in hazardous-area cabinets without a separate enclosure.
