The Siemens 6ES7238-5XA32-0XB0 is a SIMATIC S7-1200 SM 1238 Energy Meter module that measures voltage, current, power, energy, and frequency in 1- and 3-phase TN/TT systems up to 480 V AC line-to-line. It accepts 1 A or 5 A current transformer inputs and reports voltage and current readings at 0.2 accuracy class per IEC 61557-12.

Selection Notes

Match the connected current transformer's secondary rating to the module's 1 A or 5 A input range before wiring, since the 0.2 accuracy class for current is relative to that secondary rated current. The 0.5 accuracy class on active energy is adequate for sub-metering and load analysis inside TIA Portal but does not meet utility billing-grade requirements. CAT II input protection covers phase-to-neutral loads up to 293 V; select the CAT III-rated configuration (1.5 kV protection level) for line-to-line measurement points closer to the distribution feed.
