- Description
The Siemens 6ES7223-3AD30-0XB0 is a SIMATIC S7-1200 Signal Board SB 1223 that adds 2 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs at 5 V DC, with input filter times down to 0.1 microseconds and outputs rated 0.1 A for pulse trains up to 200 kHz. It mounts directly onto the CPU front without consuming a rack slot.

Selection Notes
Because it slots onto the S7-1200 CPU front rather than an expansion rack position, it expands I/O count without using one of the CPU's limited SM slots; choose a full SM signal module instead when the application needs more than 2 DI/2 DQ or output current above 0.1 A. The 200 kHz, 0.1 microsecond minimum filter time makes it suited to capturing fast 5 V logic-level pulses that a standard 24 V DI channel cannot resolve.
Applications
Adding a small block of 5 V DC digital I/O to a space-constrained S7-1200 CPU - for example capturing a 200 kHz encoder or sensor pulse train, or driving low-current 5 V logic-level status outputs, without occupying an expansion module slot.
