Choose this relay-output SM 1222 over a transistor-output DQ module when the load is AC (5-250V AC) or when a single station mixes AC and DC loads, since transistor outputs switch DC only. Because relay outputs carry no built-in short-circuit protection, external fusing or a circuit breaker per output group is required, unlike transistor DQ modules that include electronic protection.
