Selection Notes

Relay outputs switch AC loads directly, up to 250 V AC at 200 W lamp load, which a transistor DO module can't, at the cost of a mechanical life limited to 100,000 cycles at rated load versus millions of cycles for solid-state switching. Choose the transistor-output SM 1222 variant in the same family instead for high-cycle-rate DC loads where contact wear would be the limiting factor.

Applications

Switches mixed AC/DC loads directly from an S7-1200 station, including contactor coils, indicator lamps, and small motor starters, without an external interposing relay.
