The Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 SM 1222 (6ES7222-1BF32-0XB0) is a digital output module with 8 transistor outputs rated 24 V DC at 0.5 A each, adding discrete DO capacity to an S7-1200 station over the backplane bus. It has no internal short-circuit protection, isolates outputs from the backplane bus at 500 V AC, and draws 1.5 W typical inside a 45 x 100 x 75 mm, 0.155 kg housing rated IP20.

Selection Notes

No internal short-circuit protection means the output group needs an external fuse or breaker sized to the 0.5 A per channel rating. Choose the relay-output SM 1222 variant in the same family instead when the load needs AC switching or higher inrush tolerance than a 0.5 A transistor output allows.

Applications

Adds transistor DO capacity to an S7-1200 CPU for driving 24 V DC loads such as solenoid valves, indicator lamps, or small contactor coils within the module's 0.5 A per-channel rating.
