Selection Notes

The F in the designation makes this a fail-safe CPU: it processes F-blocks for SIL-rated safety functions together with the standard program, so a separate safety PLC is not needed on the ET 200pro station. Pick the non-F 1516pro-2 PN instead if the machine has no safety I/O. Against the smaller 1513pro F, this CPU triples the program memory to 3 MB and triples the data memory to 7.5 MB and raises the maximum connectable IO devices to 256, which matters once the block count or the number of distributed stations grows past the 1513pro F's limits.
