The Siemens 6GK1562-2AA00 CP 5622 is a PCI Express x1 communications processor card that connects a PG or PC with a PCIe bus to PROFIBUS or MPI at 9.6 kbit/s to 12 Mbit/s, supported on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. It draws power from the backplane bus (3.3 V at 0.3 A, 12 V at 0.25 A) and presents a single 9-pin Sub-D RS 485 port.

The PCI Express x1 edge connector fits current PC hardware where a legacy PCI slot is no longer available, which is the practical reason to choose this card over the CP 5612 - the PROFIBUS performance figures (64 DP devices, 8 S7/PG connections) are identical between the two. Compared with the CP 5623/CP 5624, this card has no DP-Base software or configuration tool included, so it suits a PG/engineering role rather than a standalone DP master station running without STEP 7 or TIA Portal.

Applications

Connecting an engineering PG or PC with a PCIe slot to a PROFIBUS DP or MPI network for programming, diagnostics, or a DP master function within the 64-device limit.
