  • Description

The Siemens 6ES7405-0KA02-0AA0 is a SIMATIC S7-400 wide-range power supply, PS 405, accepting 24 V, 48 V, or 60 V DC input and delivering 5 V DC at up to 10 A plus 24 V DC at up to 1 A to the backplane bus. It bridges a 20 ms mains failure per NAMUR recommendation and dissipates 20 W of power loss at typical load.

Selection Notes

The three DC input ranges (24/48/60 V) let this PS 405 power a rack from whichever DC bus the plant standardizes on, without swapping the module when input voltage changes between projects. Ten amps on the 5 V backplane rail needs no base load, so it can feed a fully populated S7-400 rack directly; the 1 A on 24 V DC is only for idling-proof low-current loads, not for driving field I/O.

Applications

Feeds the backplane bus of a SIMATIC S7-400 rack from a 24 V, 48 V, or 60 V DC plant supply, used where the control system runs on battery-backed or telecom-style DC distribution rather than AC mains.
