  • Description

The Siemens 6ES7453-3AH00-0AE0 is a SIMATIC S7-400 FM 453 function module for positioning with servo and stepper motors, with 3 independent channels. Each channel outputs a -10 V to +10 V analog setpoint for servo drives or a differential stepper-drive pulse train up to 200 kHz, and accepts incremental or absolute SSI encoder feedback.

Selection Notes

Choose the FM 453 over a rapid/slow traverse positioning module in the same family when the drive needs a continuous analog setpoint or a stepper pulse train rather than discrete run/creep outputs, since this module drives servo amplifiers directly at -10 V to +10 V or steppers at up to 200 kHz. Each of the 3 channels runs independently with its own encoder feedback loop, so mixed servo and stepper axes can share one module.

Applications

Analog servo setpoints combined with a 200 kHz stepper output on 3 channels suit machines that mix servo and stepper axes, such as packaging or converting equipment, controlled directly from an S7-400 rack without a separate motion controller.
