SFP991-1 identifies the 100 Mbit/s LC single-port variant; select it for SCALANCE X switch slots needing a 100BASE-FX fiber uplink specifically, since a Gigabit application needs a different SFP model with a higher rated transmission method. The 1300 nm wavelength and 5 km multimode range fit inter-building or long production-line fiber runs where copper Ethernet distance limits (100 m) do not reach. Hazardous-location approval (ATEX, FM) makes it usable in SCALANCE X switches installed in Zone 2 / Division 2 areas without a separate barrier.
