The Siemens SCALANCE XCH328 (6GK5328-4TS01-2EC2) is a conformal-coated, fanless, DIN-rail managed Layer 2 industrial Ethernet switch with a Layer 3 upgrade license option, 24 Gigabit 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports, and 4 SFP+ slots for 1 or 10 Gbit/s uplinks. It runs from a redundant 24 V DC supply and supports RADIUS authentication and IEEE 1588 v2 time synchronization.

Selection Notes

The XCH328 is the conformal-coated counterpart of the XCM328, protecting the same compact fanless DIN-rail switch, 24x Gigabit RJ45 plus 4x SFP+ ports, Layer 3 upgrade license path, RADIUS authentication and IEEE 1588 v2 time sync, against condensation, dust and corrosive gases. Choose it over the uncoated XCM328 whenever the cabinet sits outdoors, near coastal air, or in a chemical or wash-down environment; the electrical specification and redundancy protocol set, MRP, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, no PRP or HSR, are otherwise identical. If the harsh-environment protection is not needed, the uncoated XCM328 costs less, and if Layer 3 routing will never be used, the fixed-Layer-2 conformal-coated sibling is the simpler choice.
