The Siemens SCALANCE XC324-4 (6GK5328-4TS00-2AC2) is a compact, fanless, DIN-rail managed Layer 2 industrial Ethernet switch with 24 Gigabit 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports and 4 SFP+ slots for 1 or 10 Gbit/s uplinks. It runs from a redundant 24 V DC supply and supports PROFINET IO diagnostics, MRP/HRP/PRP redundancy, and IEC 62443-4-2 cybersecurity certification.

Selection Notes

The XC324-4 fits a compact DIN-rail cell or machine enclosure where the 19-inch rack XR328 does not, and its 4x SFP+ slots support 10 Gbit/s uplinks that the XR328 combo ports do not reach. Network load class III and PROFINET system redundancy with H-Sync forwarding make it suited to a PROFINET IO device chain with system-redundant controllers, not just a simple switched segment. This base XC324-4 model has a fixed Layer 2 feature set; if the application later needs a Layer 3 upgrade license, the corresponding upgradeable sibling in the same compact form factor is the better starting point. Choose the conformal-coated sibling instead for condensing or corrosive ambient conditions.
