The Siemens 6GK5324-8TS01-2AC2 SCALANCE XCM324 is a managed Layer 2 Industrial Ethernet switch in a compact, fanless DIN-rail housing, with 16 electrical 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports and 8 SFP+ slots supporting 1 or 10 Gbit/s modules. It runs from a 24 V DC supply, is upgradeable to Layer 3 via license, and meets PROFINET conformity class B with NETCONF-based automation support.

This XCM324 variant is the Layer-3-upgradeable model in the same 16x RJ45 + 8x SFP+ compact housing as its fixed-Layer-2 sibling, adding a purchasable layer-3 license, NETCONF automation, RADIUS support, and IEEE 802.1Qbu/802.3br frame preemption. It also carries railway approvals (EN 50121-4 and EN 50125-3, for use in areas not accessible to the public) that the fixed-Layer-2 sibling does not list, which matters for trackside or rolling-stock installations. The 2048-VLAN ceiling is eight times the sibling's 257, useful where the network is segmented more finely.
