The Siemens SCALANCE XB108-2 6GK5108-2BB00-2AB2 is an unmanaged Ethernet switch for small star and line topologies, combining 8x 10/100 Mbit/s RJ45 ports with 2x 100 Mbit/s ST(BFOC) multimode fiber ports. The fiber ports use 100BaseFX transmission and extend the network beyond copper distance limits. A redundant 24 V AC/DC supply and PROFINET Class A support back a compact IP20 enclosure.

Selection Notes

Pick the ST(BFOC) fiber variant when existing plant fiber runs are already terminated in ST connectors, common in older multimode fiber backbones; otherwise the SC-connector XB108-2 sibling gives the same 8 RJ45 plus 2 fiber port layout with a smaller, keyed connector. Both fiber ports run 100BaseFX, so mixing this switch into a 100 Mbit/s ring or line topology doesn't bottleneck a gigabit RJ45 segment elsewhere on the network. The full set of ATEX, UKEX, IECEx, and FM hazardous-location approvals make this switch usable inside Zone 2/22 cabinets, unlike the non-Ex XC124 desktop switch.
