The Siemens SCALANCE XC224 (6GK5224-0BA00-2AC2) is a managed Layer 2 Industrial Ethernet switch with 24x 10/100 Mbit/s RJ45 ports, a C-PLUG slot for configuration transfer, and PROFINET conformity class B. It runs from a redundant 24 V DC supply, operates across -40 to +70C - wider than the XB-series' 0 to +60C - and carries IP20 protection with DIN rail, S7 rail, or wall mounting.

Selection Notes

The XC224 extends the XC-series' -40 to +70C wide-temperature range to 24 managed ports, with a C-PLUG slot that lets a spare unit inherit a failed switch's configuration without a PC - useful where field replacement has to happen fast. PROFINET system redundancy and H-Sync forwarding support put it a step above the XB216 in redundant-controller topologies. Choose the 16-port XB216 instead when the segment stays indoors at 0 to +60C and doesn't need the extra 8 ports or the C-PLUG swap-out workflow.
