- Description
The Harting 24020160010 Ha-VIS eCon 2160B-A is an unmanaged 16-port Fast Ethernet switch for DIN-rail mounting, built for 24 V DC or 48 V DC supply (permissible range 9-60 V DC) and an IP30 housing. It switches on all 16 10/100 Mbit/s RJ45 ports using store-and-forward technology, and runs from 0 to +55 °C operating temperature, which covers a standard control cabinet without forced cooling.
Each port auto-negotiates speed and duplex and auto-detects straight or crossover cabling (Auto-MDI(X)), so installers do not need to match cable types port by port. The switch is non-blocking across all 16 ports and supports basic quality-of-service handling and Energy Efficient Ethernet, but it has no management interface, no PoE output, and no redundancy protocol - it is a plug-and-forward device, not a configurable node on the network.
Power connects through a 3-pin pluggable screw terminal (+, -, FE) rated for 0.08-2.5 mm² conductors (AWG 28-12), with reverse-polarity protection and a 2 A input overcurrent protection built in. At 24 V DC the switch draws under 93 mA in steady state (2.23 W); inrush current on power-up stays under 1.6 A. The aluminium housing is 120 mm wide on the DIN rail and is rated IP30 once mated, so it still needs an enclosure against dust and moisture ingress.

Selection Notes
The 16-port 2160B-A is the largest body in the eCon 2000 family at 120 mm wide, with an 8k-entry MAC table and 2 Megabit packet buffer - both larger than the 5- and 8-port variants - sized for a cabinet-level switch aggregating multiple machine segments rather than a single cell. Pick the 2050B-A or 2080B-A instead when the port count needed is 5 or 8, since the smaller bodies save DIN-rail space for the same unmanaged feature set.
