At 175 A / 160 kW, this is the first rating built in the 176.0 kg IP20 frame, stepping up from the lighter 104.0 kg frame used below 175 A; specify it once motor rated current exceeds roughly 150 A and plan for the added weight versus the smaller frame. IP20 protection is sufficient when the module sits inside a control cabinet that already keeps out dust and contact, so it mounts directly on the cabinet backplate without a further enclosure. Because the supply section is a 6-pulse design without power recovery, braking energy from the driven load cannot be fed back to the 660-690 V line; it has to be dissipated through a braking resistor or absorbed by a regenerative unit elsewhere in the line-up, not by this module. It ships as the power stage only, with the CIM board and Drive-CLiQ cable fitted but no control module, so a SINAMICS control unit has to be ordered and connected separately before the drive can run a motor. The Drive-CLiQ cable is Siemens' point-to-point digital link between the power module and the control unit, carrying parameter and diagnostic data over a single cable instead of discrete analog wiring.
