This is the PN (PROFINET) variant of the CU320-2 Control Unit, sold without a CompactFlash card - a card must be ordered separately before commissioning since firmware and parameters live on it, not the module itself. The 4 DRIVE-CLiQ ports set the upper limit on how many Motor Modules, Power Modules, or CX-series controller extensions can attach directly; a CX32-2 extension is the usual route to add axes beyond that limit. 12 onboard digital I/O let simple interlocks and status signals connect without a separate remote I/O station on smaller SINAMICS S120 configurations.
