This TPRO variant switches loads through 8 relay contacts rather than solid-state transistor outputs, so it isolates the S7 output circuit from the field load and can switch AC loads (230 V AC / 3 A) that a transistor output module cannot - pick it when field devices are AC-powered or need galvanic isolation from the PLC's DC output circuit. The rated 3,000,000 mechanical / 50,000 electrical (at 230 V AC/4 A) operating cycle life is the limiting factor versus a transistor connection module, so it is not the right choice for high-frequency switching (max. 0.1 operations/s rated). The 16-pole IDC front connection with a 30 m max cable length keeps the TOP connect front-plug wiring separate from the DIN-rail-mounted relay block for fast replacement.
