- Description
The Siemens 6ES7141-5BF00-0BA0 is a SIMATIC ET 200AL digital input module with 8 channels of 24 V DC input, wired through 8x M8 connectors for direct field mounting in IP67-rated enclosures without a separate cabinet. Switching delay runs from 1.2 to 4.8 ms, each channel has a green status LED, and the module supports safety-related tripping of standard modules up to Performance Level d / SIL 2 from firmware status FS01.

Selection Notes
The PL d / Category 3 / SIL 2 safety-related tripping capability, available from firmware FS01, lets this DI module participate in a safety function without a separate fail-safe I/O module, provided the F-CPU and wiring meet the same category. The M8, 3-pole per-channel connection with IP65/67 sealing is the reason to pick ET 200AL over a DIN-rail ET 200SP DI module: it mounts directly on the machine near the sensors, eliminating a junction box and its cabling run. Total encoder supply current is limited to 0.7 A across all 8 channels — a factor when sizing how many powered sensors this module can carry versus splitting the load across two modules.
Applications
Field-mounted digital sensor input — proximity switches, limit switches, photoelectric sensors — directly on machines and conveyor sections where a cabinet-mounted DIN-rail I/O station isn't practical, including safety-related sensor signals up to PL d / SIL 2.
