The Schneider Electric XPSMCMEN0100SC is a Modicon MCM safe speed monitoring expansion module with 1 Sin/Cos encoder input (RJ45) and 2 proximity sensor inputs, running at up to 500 kHz encoder frequency. It reaches category 4, PLe per ISO 13849-1 and Type 4 per IEC 61496-1. The module expands an XPSMCM safety controller over the backplane bus and cannot work stand-alone.

Choose the XPSMCMEN0100SC over the XPSMCMEN0200 when the machine already has a Sin/Cos encoder on the spindle or blade shaft and needs true zero-speed and direction detection rather than just proximity-switch pulse counting — the 500 kHz encoder channel resolves speed far faster than the 5 kHz proximity input shared by both modules. SoSafe Configurable lets each logical axis use up to four independently selectable speed thresholds, so one module can gate a guard-door interlock at low speed and trigger a full stop above a second threshold. It is suited to band-saw, circular-saw and grinding machines that need safe-speed monitoring before a guard unlocks.
