Schneider Electric XPSMCMDO0004 Modicon MCM 4 Digital Output Pairs Expansion Module Safety PLC

The Schneider Electric XPSMCMDO0004 is a Modicon MCM safe output expansion module that adds 4 dual-channel OSSD output pairs (400 mA per channel) to an XPSMCM safety controller over the backplane expansion bus. It reaches category 4, PLe per ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 per IEC 61508. The module expands an XPSMCM controller and cannot work stand-alone — it has no logic of its own.

Choose the XPSMCMDO0004 when a safety circuit needs solid-state OSSD outputs rather than relay contacts: its 400 mA PNP outputs switch without the 12 ms relay delay of the XPSMCMER0004 and XPSMCMRO0004DA and avoid contact wear under frequent cycling. The 4 dual-channel layout covers four independent safety zones from one module, each pair wired directly into a contactor or drive STO input. Because it draws logic and power from the backplane bus, it only works plugged into an XPSMCM base controller — it is not a stand-alone safety relay.
