The Schneider Electric TM221M16R is a Modicon M221 Book-format logic controller with 16 discrete I/O — 8 inputs and 8 relay outputs — in a compact 70 x 70 x 90 mm housing. Selection Notes

The TM221M16R's relay outputs handle both AC and DC loads directly (5-250 V AC or 5-125 V DC), so choose it over a transistor-output Book controller when the application switches contactor coils, solenoid valves, or indicator lamps at line voltage without an external interposing relay. Its 20 operations/minute maximum switching frequency at full load is a hard limit — high-cycle-rate outputs belong on a transistor variant instead.
