- Description
The Schneider Electric LUCL05BL is a TeSys U magnetic control unit giving short-circuit protection only, adjustable from 1.25 to 5 A. Plugged into a LUB12, LUB32, or LUB38 power base, it is intended for installations where an upstream variable speed drive or soft starter already provides motor overload protection, completing a disconnect/short-circuit function for 3-phase motors up to 1.5 kW at 400 V, controlled from a 24 V DC supply.

Selection Notes
Unlike the LUCA05BL or LUCB05BL, the LUCL05BL carries no Class 10 thermal curve or phase-failure sensing, since it is meant to sit downstream of a drive or soft starter that already handles motor overload protection; fitting a thermal unit in that position would risk nuisance double-tripping against the drive's own current limit. Its 1.25-5 A adjustment and 14.2 x In instantaneous threshold give only short-circuit and disconnect duty on the same 45 mm LUB base footprint. Do not substitute it for an LUCA/LUCB unit on a direct-on-line motor, since that application needs the missing overload protection.
