Selection Notes
Select the BMEP582020 — the M580 Level 20 CPU — over the entry-level processor when an architecture needs more than 64 distributed Ethernet devices or more than 1024 discrete / 256 analog local I/O points; it doubles both local I/O capacity (2048 DI / 512 AI) and the distributed-device ceiling (128) of the entry CPU. Its 8 MB program memory and 768 kB data memory give roughly twice the application headroom, which matters for projects with more function blocks or larger data structures than the entry-level CPU can hold. Local rack count stays capped at 4, so an architecture needing remote I/O racks beyond that should use a processor built for remote-drop expansion instead.
