- Description
The Siemens 6GK5991-1AF00-8AC0 is a SCALANCE X SFP991-1LD plug-in transceiver with a single 100 Mbit/s single-mode LC optical port, supporting fiber runs up to 26 km using 100BASE-LX transmission at 1310 nm. It is IP20-rated for -40 to +85 degrees C operation, sold in packs of 10 units, and intended as a field-installable optic for SCALANCE X switch fiber ports.

Selection Notes
The 1310 nm single-mode optics and -8 to -15 dB transmitter output give this SFP a 26 km maximum range at 100 Mbit/s over single-mode fiber - a multi-mode SFP variant is the better choice for shorter runs where fiber cost matters more than distance. Since it ships as a pack of 10, plan spares or replacements at that unit count rather than ordering single pieces. The -40 to +85 degrees C operating range, with +85 degrees C limited to 16-hour duration, covers outdoor or unheated-cabinet installations that a standard commercial-temperature SFP would not.
Applications
Long-distance fiber uplinks between SCALANCE X switches over single-mode fiber, connecting distributed Industrial Ethernet segments across a plant or site where copper or multi-mode fiber distance limits are exceeded.
