The 0.35-0.75 km range and 850 nm multimode optics size this SFP for building- or plant-level fiber runs between SCALANCE X switches; longer single-mode links need a different SFP992 variant in the SCALANCE X accessory range. Being a hot-pluggable SFP module, it can be swapped into any SCALANCE X switch slot that supports SFP transceivers without opening the switch housing.

Applications
