The Schneider Electric ATS480D75Y is an Altivar ATS480 soft starter for 3-phase asynchronous motors, rated 75 A continuous (Ie) in normal duty across a 208-690 V AC supply. Size the ATS480D75Y to the motor's full-load current, not just its kW label: 75 A covers motors up to 37 kW at 400 V in normal duty, while the 62 A heavy-duty rating (30 kW) applies to loads with longer or more frequent starts, such as conveyors or compressors. Wiring the motor into the delta terminals instead of in-line lowers the current the starter itself has to switch, which is worth doing if the application sits near the top of this frame's range. The built-in torque control (TCS) shapes acceleration and deceleration to reduce mechanical shock on pumps and fans, and the dynamic braking with DC injection brings high-inertia loads to a stop without an external brake.
